Message from our National Sales Manager about Investing in Australia

Question: Can you briefly describe your background in South Africa, your roles and experience?
I am born in the Free State and grew up in Bloemfontein. I lived with my wife and 3 kids in lovely Stellenbosch up until we immigrated to Australia. I am a qualified Attorney at law, enrolled to the High Court of South Africa during 1996. During my career as Attorney, I got involved with a well known International Real Estate Franchise Group and did training to hundreds of Real Estate Agents in South Africa. Real Estate and its people became my true passion and I’m always grateful to be part of such an exciting industry!

Question: When did you come to Australia and what have you been doing up until now? 
I entered Australia during November 2008 as a permanent resident and lived with my family in the serene Adelaide Hills until recently. In Adelaide I got involved with a construction and development company and learned quite a bit about the construction industry in Australia. Through my dealings with various Investment companies, I met Richard Dunn, the Property Acquisitions Manager of OzInvest. This gave me an opportunity to get to know OzInvest a little bit better.
As a lawyer, you cannot help but to analyse everything and I can assure you I did.
To cut a long storey short, I am over the moon with this Company and I am as passionate about what they are doing as they are! I have been at OzInvest since September 2009 and I can already tell this is the start of something great.

Question: Can you briefly describe to us what your role is with OzInvest?
Currently I am the National Sales Manager of OzInvest, looking after all our wonderful National and International Sales staff and building our team. I however started off as the National Business Development Manager, entrusted with the role to strengthen business relationships and build new ones.

As OzInvest is continually growing, there are many exciting things in the pipeline with this Company. I can also bring a lot of my own experiences of running businesses in South Africa to the table here. This is a people orientated business and I believe that I am vastly experienced and truly passionate in my dealings with people and assessing their needs. Importantly, I want to get the OzInvest message out further than Australia as the opportunity for offshore Investors is truly outstanding.

Question: How would you describe OzInvest as a Company?
Without doubt this is the best property investment company I’ve ever come across. Every single person I have dealt with in the company, from the management all the way through to the receptionist, has a passion for what they do, and a wealth of knowledge about all areas of the business. Question: Should there be any concerns for South Africans of investing in Australian property through OzInvest?

Question: Should South Africans invest their hard earned money into Australian property and why?
Absolutely, it is quite clear that Australian property can create unbelievable wealth for ordinary people.
The country is politically stable, the economy is robust, the Banking system is heavily regulated and one of the best in the world, so your money is safe here.
What I have found is Australia has the history of property doubling in value every 7-10 years, so as a South African Investor, you can Invest your hard earned money today, safely and easily into a 1st world economy and in my opinion two things should happen:

1. Your Property will rise in value.

2. You have ‘hedged’ your South African Rands in Australia at today’s exchange rate.  

Therefore, not only does your property appreciate but your money over time should on all probability be worth more on exchange.
